With the project Grafts. Alternative educational pathways for children aged 0-6 in response to Covid-19 emergence” we aims at mending the educational and existential rips caused by lockdown and disruption of educational activities in the first half of 2020. Starting from July 1st and up to September 30th, we offer summer camps for children aged 0-6 years. The aim is to promote the psychological and physical wellbeing of children with timely, flexible and tangible interventions after the trauma of lockdown and support families to tackle educational poverty.
The project is funded by social enterprise Con I Bambini within the fund to tackle educational poverty and is carried out in four Italian cities – Naples, Rome, Bari and Milan – by a partnership including Pianoterra, Antropos, Mama Happy and Mitades. It follows two directions: restarting educational activities for children and responding to their families’ financial and psychological distress caused by social distancing and further marginalization.
The program for children includes workshops, open air activities, reading and listening to stories, music and theatre. Parents are offered individual and group counseling on how to support their children.
Activities are carried out in full compliance to measures to control the spread of Covid-19.
