“Holding hands” is a project promoted by Save the Children Italia in the cities of Naples, Bari, Rome, Milan and Turin and implemented by a network of local partners, among which Pianoterra.
It aims at taking charge of 1000 vulnerable children who live in conditions of social, economic and psychological distress, certified by an hospital or a public healthcare operator. Each child is granted a shared program of support and protection. Intervention includes material aid for the family (contribution to grocery shopping, home bills and nursery fees), aimed at easing most urgent needs, and activities to strengthen personal and family resources, enhancing parents’ self-sufficiency and connecting them with local social services.
For the intervention to be sustainable, it is crucial the collaboration with other local organization and public services.
